Showing Off My Creativity

Hello Everyone!

Here I am with another post of me showing off my creativity. I now have new 2nd job where I’m styling and redecorating rooms. It’s very fun, and very tedious. I’m really trying to get used to it, and I like it. It’s very different. Anyway, I’m still drawing and being creative as usual. I recently created a portrait for my cousin. This is the final product.

She loved it so much that I’m currently working on a second illustration for her. In addition, I have products on my store on Society 6 ( I’ve had this store for some years now, and I haven’t been promoting it like I should. Honestly, that’s where I lack as a creative person. I don’t promote myself like I should.

Anyway, I just wanted to show you my progress so far. Until I speak to you again.

New Things as well as YouTube Channel

Hello Everyone,

I notice that I always take a break to reflect, as well as do new things to showcase my artwork. I’ve been doing new thing. My Etsy page is up, and I have t-shirts with my artwork on them. I’m celebrating the beauty of the black woman, so I have illustrations showing the faces of beautiful black women in African attire. You can order here:

I’ve now also created a YouTube channel, Ashley D Love. I will be showing myself in action creating quick sketches and fashion illustrations. Here is the link for my YouTube channel:

I will be creating more things, so be on the lookout. Talk to you soon

New Things

Hello Everyone!

I just realized the last time I had written a blog on here was New Year's Eve 2017!  That's not good!  I need to get my life together and write on here more! 😂 Great things are happening for me.  Things are going in the right direction career wise.  I have been doing work for people, and I'm starting to do more "Black Power" illustrations.  I did this illustration for someone in February.

Unapologetically Black 2017 *the name of the background print is called "Karo."  I know I found it on Google, but I cannot remember the source where I found it.  If anyone knows, it will be greatly appreciated.

I created this piece for someone in Denver.  I need to do more empowering pieces like this, especially for fashion!  Also, my birthday will be Sunday, and I'm planning to do something that I feel will help me and my business!  I must say that I'm nervously excited by this because I know that I'm in control, but at the same time I still have that certainty of what the future will hold.  I'm still keeping my faith strong.  Again, if life doesn't have me too busy, I will continue to talk to you all and show you more works.

Until Next Time!

Happy New (Eve and Day)

Hello Everyone!

Happy New Year in advance.  Each new year, we are always talking about what resolution we're going to do.  Whether we stick to it or not, we are always doing something to change, for better or sometimes worse.  I don't know about anyone else, but lately I have been doing a lot of reflecting, and for the first time ever I see that I have really been focusing on other things besides myself.  I used to have so many dreams for myself, and now I haven't even thought of working on those things again.  Well, things are about to change.

Here is my first collection, which is from 2011

I'm still very proud of this collection.  I worked tirelessly sewing, dying, draping, and creating different textures with fabrics to create this different and unique activewear collection.  Creating this collection was the happiest moment in my life.  I showed this collection when I had my first fashion show in Atlanta, during Fashion Week 2012 in NYC, in various other fashion shows throughout the Southeast, and in fashion shows in Dallas.  This one collection (10 looks to be exact) has taken me to a lot of places.  So, what happened?  Why wasn't I creating more collections?  Why was I solely showing this one collection?  Well, life happened.   Things started happening that was out of my control, and now it seems that I have forgotten about myself and my dreams, and instead started focusing on merely existing.

It's nothing for me to do illustrations like the ones shown.  It is my passion to create fashion illustrations, and fashion collections like what's shown.  I need to get back to this.  During this holiday season, I rarely look at or read about Kwanzaa, but I have been reading about it a lot lately.  It really focuses on creativity and empowerment in oneself and in the community.  This is really speaking to me.

So, what's my "new year resolution?" To get back to the creative person I used to be.  To get back to creating something for myself.  To get back to promoting myself and getting my name out there.  To get back to "finding my niche" in my career.  The things I used to do creatively, I'm getting back to that.  I'm getting back to doing collections, fashion illustrations, gaining clientele, and being the creative me.  I will still continue to talk to you all and show what new things I have done.  I will also continue to promote myself on here.

Stay tuned!

Lacey from Florida

I created another custom fashion illustration.  This time, it was for my sorority sister in Florida.  I used to create artwork for my sorority, and she has always liked my artwork, so when I posted my last illustration on social media, she responded saying that she wanted me to create one for her.

So, after working on this illustration for a week, I have finally finished the final product.

She has already received it, and she loves it!  I hope you all love it too.  If you would like for me to create a custom fashion illustration, please contact me.  Thank you, and have a wonderful night.

Colorful Queen

Hello Again,

I've been quite busy.  I'm working to market myself more.  It had been quite some time since I had really sketched something.  After doing a sketch for my sister, I'm quite happy about it.  I want to introduce to you my new fully rendered illustration, Colorful Queen.

This illustration was drawn by hand.  I found the fabric swatch online (I can't remember what site I saw it on), and added the colors through Illustrator and Photoshop.  Doing works like this makes me feel happy.  I'm devoting my time to doing one illustration a day.

Thank you, and have a good day.

Practicing with Tracing

I'm taking a small break to play with Tracing, an app with Microsoft.  One of my students have this app on his Surface Pro, and I wanted to see if I could get it on my laptop.  I was happy to see that it had downloaded.  The great thing about Tracing is that you can upload your own drawings, and draw over them.  The bad thing is that when you save the file, it does not save as a JPEG or PDF, and when you save it, it does not save your drawing with the file.

I used it to sketch a jumpsuit.  This is how it turned out.

I still have to play with it, but I think it came out nicely!  Until next time!

Saint Laurent S/S 18

I'm supposed to be in the bed sleep, but here I am, drooling over Saint Laurent's Spring/Summer 2018 collection from Paris Fashion Week (PFW).

Of the collections that I have viewed online, this is by far my favorite.  I've been trying to find the actual theme for this collection, but since I can't find it, I'm going to just guess at it.  This is a modernized "ode to the 80s" collection.   I'm an 80s baby, so large, puffy everything was normal during that time.

I'm really not a huge fan of fringe, but the fringe in this collection is amazing!!! There's even fringe on the boots!

There was also plenty of stylish menswear looks included.  Some tailored, and some casual.  These two are my favorites.

I know there are a lot of pictures, but this is a 91 look collection.  Every look was unique in its own way.  Even thought I love all of these looks, which are my favorite?

Pregnant Model Bares Belly on Runway

Recently, during a runway show during NYFW, a pregnant model showed her bare stomach on the runway, and apparently everyone in is in shock because they've never seen it before.  Why is this news?  Why are we treating it like it's a new trend?  Didn't we see Jourdan Dunn and Miranda Kerr do the same thing?

I also remember a designer had a runway collection for pregnant women in New Orleans.  This woman showing her bare stomach on the runway may have been styled differently, but this is nothing new for people to be shocked about.  People weren't even this shocked when Alexander McQueen debut some pants that showed the ass cheeks, or a collection that was inspired from rape culture, so why are people shocked because a woman showed her bare stomach on the runway?  Do women not supposed to show their bare baby bumps?  Please help me understand.  That's all I have for right now.

Vagina-Themed Collection Shown During Fashion Week

Hello!  So, NYFW (New York Fashion Week) has started.  Many designers, established and independent are showing their collections this year.  A pair of Berlin-based designers, Nan Li and Emilia Pfohl, also known as Namilia, debut their first collection, which was a vagina-themed collection with back-less attire, barely-there thongs, and fake breast implants.  Let's just say it was very interesting.

As a fashion designer, one thing I love is for people to wear my works of art, but I have no words for this!  If you want to read about Namilia, or see more pictures of this collection, you can go to Thanks for reading.
